About Parliamentary.ai

Parliamentary.ai uses AI technology to produce concise and easily understandable summaries of the bills under consideration in the British Parliament.

Parliamentary.ai is developed by Munro Research and powered by AnyModel. So far we have:

All UK legislation starts as a bill in one of the Houses of Parliament. Some of these bills are hundreds of pages of long and require extensive legal knowledge to understand. For some of these bills, very few people will ever read the full text and fewer still will understand it. This website aims to make parliamentary bills more accessible and understandable for the general public.

Bills are sourced from the official UK parliament website and we aim to produce summaries as soon as the bill texts are published - this usually happens once the bill enters the committee stage.

Jamie Munro - Creator of Parliamentary.ai

I'm Jamie Munro (LinkedIn / X) and I created Parliamentary.ai after experiencing the broad public interest in the continuing resolution introduced to the US congress in December 2024. Many expressed shocked by the huge size of the bill (over 1000 pages!) and the vast amount of wasteful spending that seems to have become normal in politics.

Unfortunately, this is not a new phenomenon. Powerful AI technology, on the other hand, is a new phenomenon. It's ability to summarise massive documents into more manageable sizes, whilst retaining the essential meaning of the document, was instrumental in enabling pundits to digest the massive continuing resolution and is what led to it's eventual slimming down.

I'm hopeful that this increased scrutiny, enabled by AI advancements and wide public interest, will lead to higher quality legislation, less wasteful spending and increased involvement in politics and I would love to see similar movement here, in the UK. Parliamentary.ai is my small contribution towards making that happen.
